Rackard league boys were in hard luck last Thursday when they were defeated by Kennedy Park NS in the Roinn D Hurling Final. It was a fantastic achievement for the boys to reach the final having had some great wins in the latter stages of the league.
Our Rackard league girls lost out to Blackwater in the Roinn A Semi-Final last month. The girls had a great league campaign and should be very proud of their performances throughout. They dug deep at times to get some hard earned victories.
Once again at this time of year we wish to acknowledge and thank the voluntary work of Jim Cooper, Jim Hanrahan and Séamie Fitzhenry for coaching here in the school over the past year. The pupils look forward to hurling every week and with our new astro turf area, wet grass won’t be an issue for us going forward. Your time and commitment to our budding GAA stars is greatly appreciated.
Hurling 365 took place on Tuesday mornings during our last term. Many thanks to club members and parents for volunteering their time to support this club initiative.
Anais Curran, Duffry Club GPO, has been with us in recent weeks to carry out football coaching from infants to 4th Class. The pupils have thoroughly enjoyed her coaching. 3rd-6th Class took part in a Football Blitz in Coolree last Thursday while 1st & 2nd Class enjoyed some fun games and activities.

Many thanks to Ms. Kehoe and her Active Committee for all their work running another enjoyable Active Week. The week was closed off with our Annual Sports Day last Monday which is always a highlight of the school year. There was great team spirit shown by all. Well done to all our team captains from 6th Class, in particular Jodi Brennan and Fionn Waters who achieved the coveted award of “Top Captains” on the day for the encouragement, support and kindness they exhibited as team leaders.

SSE-Wellbeing-Amber Flag achievement
Congratulations to Ms. Dowling, Ms. Bible and our Wellbeing Committee who have done a huge amount of work throughout the year in the area of Wellbeing. They ran a very enjoyable week of activities during Wellbeing Week in May. Wellbeing Co-ordinator Aine Dowling submitted a successful application for the Amber Flag, an initiative run by Pieta House acknowledging the promotion of Wellbeing and Mental Health in schools. A requirement of the Amber Flag Application was to hold a fundraiser-our committee decided to hold a crazy hair/favourite t-shirt day and raised a sum of €110 for Pieta House. Well done to all involved. We will continue with Wellbeing as our SSE focus into the next school year.
Well done to all of the boys and girls who had full attendance for the month of May. All were entered into a draw. Please see the winners below. Congratulations!!!
